Alexander Bendahan: Film
Producer
Biography
In the fall of 2006 Alexander Bendahan produced, wrote
and composed the music for the short film "Rose Murray,
Portrait of a Photographer." The film was
originally conceived to a ccompany the British photographer's
gallery exhibits both in the United States and abroad. This
documentary was the follow up to his first film effort as a
producer, writer and sound recordist for "Open Borders," (L'
Histoire du Opera Mosset) a documentary filmed in France
in 2005.
Spurred on by his interest in the film business, Bendahan
made the decision to return to the academic world in 2000 after
many years in the fields of music and live concert audio. Completing
his studies in twentieth century music composition and computer
music he contributed to a number of graduate projects in the
capacity of sound editor, sound designer and music composer.
These works include the Stanford University graduate
project "The Radius Our Passion Fills," a
computer graphics animated short. "The Radius" was
granted the honor of being accepted into the Stanford University
Archives in 2003. In 2002 he contributed his services in the
same capacities for "Powers of Darkness," a graduate film
project at University of California at Berkeley and for "The
Liminal Project," a multi-media graduate project at Cal
State Hayward.
Upcoming plans include a documentary on internationally acclaimed
architect and sculptor Jacques Overhoff, an "ambient" piece
on Pyramid Lake in Nevada, a documentary combining the Noise
Music scene in Brisbane Australia with the Aborigines in the
Northern Territories, the story of the Tuareg people of southern
Morocco and a challenging multi-arts project entitled "The
Art Army."
